Let the Blogging Begin!

This is my first official blog post. I decided about 2 weeks ago, after following a few blogs for a month or so, that I would jump on the bandwagon. When I told Tyler (my fiance) about this idea, he suggested creating a whole website. After some sporadic periods of working on the website/blog, it is finally ready to begin. I decided to start a blog for a number of reason

  • I am working on making some gradual lifestyle changes (eating healthy balanced meals, stepping up my running, reducing stress, and living a more balanced life), and I think a blog will be a great way to track my own progress as well as to have some accountability.
  • In a few short months Tyler and I will be making some big changes. We’ll be moving (although we don’t know where yet) and I will be starting law school either at Michigan State University or at a law school in Sacramento, CA. As we make these decisions, and eventually move we wanted to be able to keep in touch with family and friends and thought this would be a fun way to do it.
  • Tyler and I will also be getting married next summer (May or June of 2010) and wanted a way to share some of the wedding plans, photos, etc.

So those are just a few of the many reasons I will be starting this blog (and eventually Tyler will be starting one of his own.

Two of the things that Tyler and I have in common are a love of physical activity (exercise, sports, recreation) and a love of food. So my blog will be focused somewhat on my exercise (running in specific as that is what I am trying to improve) and how I eat. And I can guarantee there will be lots of commentary in addition to what I am eating and running.

Now on to the good stuff.

We woke up a little later than usual this morning, we’ve been doing pretty well with getting up extra early and heading to the gym before Tyler has to go to work, but this morning that was not going to happen. I made Tyler breakfast and lunch as usual and then saw him off to work around 8. I picked up a little around the loft and then tried to motivate myself to go running.

It was pretty cold and windy this morning, but I managed to get in 2.5 miles. I ran the first mile a little slower than I would have liked, because my muscles just would not warm up, probably because it was about 35 degrees out. The last mile and a half I had a better pace, but not great. I can’t wait for the warmer weather!

After my run, I stretched for a few minutes and then went inside to make breakfast.

I had a 6oz container of Peach Chobani, a 1/4 cup of homemade granola, and a 4oz banana. It hit the spot, but we’ll see how long it keeps me full for.

Now I’m off to shower. I have to help from 10:30 to 12 at Cap and Gown Pick up (yes I graduate in 3 weeks and yes I am very very excited).

After that I may get lunch with my Dad while he is in town, but we’ll have to see!
