We biked the 12.5 miles from Sand Lake to Rockford in about an hour. Once we got to Rockford we rode around the downtown area until we found a restaurant. We weren’t finding much until we rode down one street and I saw a place called Marinades Pizza Bistro. I pointed it out to my dad, he mentioned that he and my mom had met my brother at one of their other locations for dinner a number of times and that they had great pizza. We weren’t in the mood for pizza really, but nothing else looked very promising, so we pulled our bikes up on the sidewalk and went to look at their menu. Some ladies sitting outside had some really delicious looking wraps, and once we got a look at the menu and saw that they had expanded to salads, pizzas, pasta, wraps, sandwiches, etc. we decided to stay.
My dad had the Greek Wrap (it was supposed to come on a pita, but he had them serve it in a spinach wrap instead).

My dad doesn’t mess around. You can’t tell from the picture but he was sporting a very cool cycling shirt (I think it was Canari), and some mountain biking shorts. We love rocking the biking clothes in public places!
For my lunch I ordered the Gorgonzola Wrap which contained honey mustard marinated chicken, lettuce, walnuts, and gorgonzola cheese in a spinach wrap. It was AMAZING, the flavors all mixed extremely well, and the walnuts added a wonderful random crunch here and there! I ate all of it and the chips and pickle on the side. And I had a G2 Strawberry Kiwi to stay hydrated.

After we finished our wraps we sat and chatted for a bit then we got back on our bikes and rode the 12.5 miles back to the car in Sand Lake. We spent most of the last 12.5 miles talking about life and the challenges that certain things present, like moving, marriages, money, and lifestyles. It was really great talking to my dad, I always feel like I learn a lot of things from him when we get together and have discussions like we did today, because he has so much life experience and so much knowledge about different things. I’ll really miss doing things like this with my dad and days like the one I had with my mom a week or so ago. My parents are such wonderful people and they have taught me so many things, it’s definitely going to be hard to be so far away from them when we move to Sacramento, but I know that they will always be there when I need them and hopefully they will have time to come see us!
Altogether we rode 25.5 miles! What a great ride! When we got back, we packed the bikes back onto the bike rack and then drove down the road to a soft serve ice cream place. We both got a dish of the Dole Strawberry Non-Dairy Soft Serve. It was a great treat after a long ride.

It was super flavorful and tasted even better than regular soft serve I thought! My dad enjoyed his too!
My dad dropped me off a little bit ago, now I’m at the loft and waiting for some meat to thaw for dinner. Tyler and I are having TACO Night!
See you later for dinner, and thanks Dad for the great bike ride, lunch, and dessert!
