Just Keep Swimming

Tyler and I were really tired this morning. We laid around in bed, and then we got up and decided to do another session of Incredible Abs from Exercise TV. The instructor is Cindy Whitmarsh, and Cindy kicked both our abs into gear today!

I made Tyler breakfast and lunch to take to work, then I ate 3.5 oz of grapes before Tyler left for work and I went to the gym.

I decided to swim today, it was long and hard (that’s what she said…oops!). A few times I had to tell myself to “just keep swimming, just keep swimming”. Who ever knew Finding Nemo would be such great motivation! I swam a total of 1750 yards in 42 mintues. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 400 yard warm up (200 yards breaststroke, 200 yards freestyle)
  • 8 x 50 yards swimming fast alternating freestyle and breaststroke with 20 second rests between
  • 6 x 100 yards swimming faster than warm up alternating freestyle and breaststroke with 20 second rests between
  • 350 yards cool down (300 yards freestyle, 25 yards breaststroke, 25 yards backstroke)

Those 8 x 50 fast and 6 x 100 fasts were KILLER. They made the workout shorter time wise, but they made it a lot harder than my last swim. I definitely don’t regret pushing it.

I showered at the gym, then headed home for a cereal breakfast. I combined 1 serving of Fiber One Original Bran Cereal with 1/2 serving Fiber One Honey Clusters, and 2/3 cup skim milk.

I was super lazy from breakfast to lunch…oops. That swim really wore me out. I basically just watched TV and caught up on blogs.

Around 12:45 I started to get pretty hungry so I made some lunch. I made 1 serving (1/4 cup dry) of couscous, with 1.5 cups steamed broccoli (from frozen), and 2 oz of canned salmon. I topped it all off with some butter spray, 4 tbs. parmesan cheese, and a little bit of salt. Very tasty and very filling.

I LOVE broccoli!

Hopefully I can be a little more productive for the rest of the day. I’ve got some bills to pay and some internet chores to take care of including looking for a flight to and hotels in Sacramento for a trip in July. Ready, set GO!
