Thursday night was the first official bar review of the year. All of us law students headed to the Virgin Sturgeon, a whole-in-the-wall bar/restaurant right on the river in Sacramento. I stuck with one drink, which ended up being the size of 2. I ordered a vodka cranberry, which, for some reason has been my go to drink for the past month or so. I had a really good time recapping with my fellow 1L’s about the first week of school and getting to meet some new people. Good times all around!
I also got to pick up my new lunchbox on Thursday that I ordered from REI! I decided that to encourage myself to bring my lunch to school during the week, that I would buy a new lunchbox (I didn’t have one at all so…). I knew I would be much more likely to bring my lunch if I had a cute and fun bag to use, so after a little researching I decided on a Built NY bag. I couldn’t find them in any stores nearby, so I ordered it in the store at REI (they have them available on their website). I got an email Thursday saying it arrived (shipping to the store is free!) so I rushed there to pick it up before I went to bar review. It even came with a sample of a Clif Mojo bar! Aren’t they awesome!

I can’t wait to use this on Tuesday and be eco friendly by not using a paper bag!
Friday I only had 1 class, but it was a tough one. The reading material for it was very difficult to understand. I got through it though, and class was, dare I say, even fun. During the day I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up stuff for a birthday care package for my sister and some more stuff for me, which I’ll get to later. I also stopped at Safeway, and then the post office to mail the package out. Diana’s birthday is Sunday, I hope she likes her package!
Last night, my new friend (yep I sound like I’m in elementary school) Megan was having a BBQ at her apartment and invited me to come! I got to meet some of her friends which was fun, and we had some awesome food! I brought some hummus, pita chips, and Charles Shaw (2 Buck Chuck) Sauvignon Blanc to share at the BBQ. We all nibbled on hummus and pita chips and drank wine before dinner.
Megan also doesn’t eat much meat (esp. red meat) so she had bought some portabella mushrooms for us non red meat eaters. I’m not sure who cooked them up, but they grilled them with some cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese on top, and they were FABULOUS! I had one mushroom, some caesar salad, and 2 small pieces of garlic bread. I also had a super yummy frosted brownie for dessert…sooo good!
I didn’t get home until pretty late and crashed after watching about 15 minutes of Friends and dozing off during it. I dragged my tired body up the stairs to get ready for bed and slept until about 9 am this morning haha.
I’ve been really productive today. I wasn’t hungry when I woke up, so rather than eating breakfast just for the sake of eating it, I spent a few hours cleaning up the apartment. I got a lot of things organized and put away.
Remember my list I made earlier this week of what I need to do this weekend:
- Finish assignments for Monday (Torts)
- Finish assignments for Tuesday (Property Law, Contracts, Global Lawyering Skills)
- Finish part of Wednesday’s assignments (Civil Procedure)
- 6 mile Run
- Clean up Kitchen
- Clean bathrooms
- Wash car
- Erase old pictures off camera
- Organize papers
- Budgeting
- Vacuum Downstairs of apartment
- Water plants
- 1 load of Laundry
- Meal plan for next 2 weeks
- Pick up any groceries needed for meal plan
- Grocery shopping/meal planning post
Look I already got a few things done! And I’ve got the rest of the day and tomorrow to finish up more!
After my cleaning spree, I got to work on some lunch! I decided on a hearty one since I didn’t have any breakfast, in the process I came up with an awesome new dish! It contained couscous, canned diced tomatoes, sliced green peppers, sliced white mushrooms, tofu, garlic powder, salt, pepper, chili powder, and freshly grated parmesan cheese!
I cooked 2 servings of couscous according to the directions. After seasoning the tofu with salt, pepper, chili powder, and garlic powder I sauteed it in a pan with some cooking spray adding the peppers and mushrooms after about 2 minutes. I let that all cook together, then I added the can of diced tomatoes (not drained). I let it cook down some, then after measuring out a serving of couscous, I added half the pan of tofu and veggies to the top of my bed of couscous and then grated some fresh parmesan on top.

It was awesome, I loved the big chunks of veggies and tofu which went really nicely with the couscous! And I have leftovers for dinner some night this week! Yay!
I’ve gotta get cracking on my to do list, I also may go for a bike ride today, but we’ll see how things go time wise!
Have a great Saturday!

Kudos on getting back into the swing of school. i’m so nervous for the first week, mostly because I’m going to be taking a lot of language classes and I feel like I forgot all my languages over the summer. Oops. Haha
Language classes are so difficult for that reason! Unless you use them over the summer, its killer going back to class and trying to remember all the things you learned before.
I’m sure you’ll do AWESOME!
Glad you got through one week–majorrr props!
Mmm that lunch looks superb!

good call on the lunch box, sometimes we just need an extra little motivator to keep us going on the healthy choices! you have a lot going on for sure, but you’re such a great planner I know you’ll knock it out
