Did I mention that I <3 Fro yo! Yo Yo Yogurt’s Fro yo is a little on the runny side in my opinion, but it is the closest place to my apartment so.

I got a lot of sleep last night, it was FAB! I woke up pretty late this morning, I was super tired, so I just slept in until like 9. As soon as I woke up I got my running clothes on, filled up my water bottle, and drove to the American River Trail about 2 miles away. I ran for 1 hr and 6 minutes (and 16 seconds if you really care), and ran about 6.75 miles. This wasn’t exactly according to my half marathon training plan  – today was supposed to be a 5k race, but I really wanted to reassure myself that I would be ready for the 7 miler next Sunday, and this was definitely the way to do it! I feel absolutely incredible after that run!

I knew I needed a little pre run energy so I ate my last Kardea Nutrition Bar, which was Lemon Ginger. The nice people at Kardea generously offered to send me some samples of their bars to review. I received 1 of each flavor. I tried all of the flavors except for the Banana Walnut, because my brother ate that one before a run in the week before his wedding.

As someone with a very bad family history of high cholesterol and heart disease and the possibility of cholesterol lowering drugs in my future, I was extremely excited to try these bars. Unfortunately, I can’t attest to their cholesterol lowering abilities. What I can tell you is that these bars were very tasty, and have fantastic nutritional stats as I listed above. They make a really great pre run snack. I didn’t feel weighed down during my run today after eating one of these bars.

I saved the Lemon Ginger flavor for last, because I was a little nervous about it. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The lemon and ginger flavors were very mild and not over powering at all. The flavors weren’t terribly different between the Cranberry Almond, Chai Spice, and Lemon Ginger, and they all appeared to have the same base, including some oats – Yum.

Kardea products are available at retailers all over the nation, they are a  little on the pricey side, but they could potentially be worth the cost for someone attempting to lower their cholesterol through diet and exercise. Again, please note that I do not know if they actually help to lower cholesterol. If you are looking for a good snack, these are tasty and might just hit the spot for you!

Anyways, after my run I stretched for about 5 minutes then drove home to have lunch. I made some premade Trader Joe’s Chunky Portobella Mushroom Ravioli, and topped it with 3/4 cup Ragu Spaghetti Sauce and some shaved fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese. I also mowed down the last of my grapes that I bought a few weeks ago- love me some grapes!

I used half the package of Portobella Mushroom Ravioli – 300 calories. So I have some to use later this week! Aren’t leftovers wonderful!

Now I’m off to shower and then do some homework. Around 5, I’m heading out to wash my car, go to Sam’s Club, and going to Whole Foods to pick up the rest of the stuff from my grocery list and to pick up some Whole Food’s salad bar for dinner. Then guess what, more homework! I’ll also be posting some info about grocery shopping and saving money either tonight or tomorrow! Get ready, I love talking about grocery shopping!

I’ve never seen that bar before but it sounds good. I’ve had lemon ginger probiotic pudding and that was always amazing
