Friday was a great day.
I started it off with a workout.
I did a little strength training (which I am feeling today btw) I did 3 sets of:
- 12 bicep curls with 5 lb weights
- 12 overhead pressess with 5 lb weights
- 12 chest presses (using the stairs like a stability ball under my shoulders haha) with 5 lb weights
- 12 tricep kickbacks with 5 lb weights (one arm at a time)
- 12 rows with 3 lb weights
- 12 “girl” push-ups
I followed that up with some Yoga with Enya – sigh, and some foam rolling.
After my little sweat session, I showered and ate this awesome breakfast: 2 Kashi GoLean Waffles with 1 Tbs. Real Maple Syrup and half a peach.

The rest of my morning was spent in class and driving to and from school. I drank this MetroMint water during class – it was good, but not really worth the price tag.

I was super hungry when I got home, so I microwaved this Amy’s Indian Samosa Wrap.

I also decided to munch on the last bag of Food Should Taste Good Olive Chips (sad day – I still have a bag of Jalapeno flavored ones left though).

All together, the Amy’s Samosa wrap, chips, some Tribe Chipotle Hummus for the chips, and the last of the peach from breakfast.

My sweet tooth was acting up all afternoon so I indulged with some Fun Dip.

I also snacked on half of this Alternative Baking Co. cookie – yum!

My afternoon was spent at the Vacaville Outlet Mall with Julia (not me my friend Julia from law school!). We decided to do some shopping to find suits for an oral argument we have to do for our Civil Procedure class.
We picked up some goodies at Harry & David’s, and got to try a sample of some Dark Chocolate Moose Munch – YUM!

Julia modeled the Moose Munch for me!

Here’s my goodies – two containers of tea, and mug for making loose leaf tea to-go, and some Neapolitan Malt Balls – yikes!

We both found some fabulous suits! I ended up finding two at Banana Republic and got them both plus an extra pair of pants, and two shirts to wear with them for right around $300 – I had a coupon, and I later found out that they gave a 10% discount for being a AAA member, so I took my receipt in there and had them rearrange some things so I got the 10% off!

We had our own little fashion shows in the dressing rooms

Julia tried this cute suit on at Calvin Klein, but she ended up getting a different suit from Ann Taylor which was also VERY cute, unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that one : (

We didn’t get back to Sacramento until almost 10, and we were super hungry so we stopped at this cute little place that we drove by called 33rd Street Bistro.
We started off with this amazing sourdough bread and butter (we got another basket later – it was sooo good).

We both ordered the Bistro Salad which came with hard boiled eggs, roasted almonds, bacon, parmesan, mushrooms, and a very good vinaigrette on a bed of spinach. I ordered mine sans bacon, Julia ordered hers sans mushrooms.

We really didn’t like our salads ; )

After dinner I drove Julia home, then I headed home myself. I was hungry by the time I got home…bad me for not eating until 10pm…so I warmed up the last half of the Alternative Baking Co. cookie in the micro for 15 seconds and ate it while watching Ghost Hunters on Hulu!

This morning I woke up around 7:30, and slowly got ready for my run.
I thought I would show you what I typically bring on a run. This morning I chose some Luna Moons to see if they would upset my stomach like the Clif Shot last week.

Once I was ready to go I drove to the trail and jogged a little too warm up then I got my run on.
The run went 10 x better than last week’s. I ran a little slower to avoid burning myself out, I felt pretty strong most of the way, but those last 2 -3 miles were hard. I ate my Luna Moons around mile 8, and started stopping for water at fountains around the same time. The Luna Moons didn’t give me cramps at all, although they did feel a little heavy in my stomach.
I am seriously considering carrying water with me for these long runs, because I really am running through dessert areas for most of it. I realized today that I had salt crystals on me where I had sweated and it had evaporated – crazy!
I was also noticeing some pain in my right hip and knee after the first 5 or so miles, I think I need to work more on strengthening my thigh muscles with things other than running and that my body needs more time to adjust to running higher mileages. I finished 11 miles in 1:47:13. Overall it was another great PR – I feel very blessed to be able to challenge myself like this.

I'm happy and very very sweaty!
I stopped at Jamba Juice on my way home for some easy to digest recovery fuel. I chose the Jamba Light Strawberry Nervana in the original size, with the Whey Protein Super Boost. It’s important to get a combination of carbs, fats, and proteins to aid in recovery.

I stuck it in the freezer while I showered, then drank it while watching the latest episode of The Office. Is anyone else slightly unimpressed with the first two episodes of this season? There seems to be a huge lack of humor in my opinion.
After The Office I played dress up with my new suits for an hour or so, yep I’m super cool. I’ll be eating again soon, and then tonight I’m getting dinner with Julia and Megan. Should be a great Saturday!
Also, I wanted to give Julia some major kudos. She’s been looking into the Couch to 5k programs, and after talking about running last night, she did her first Couch to 5k workout today! I’m so proud of her, and I can’t wait to go on runs with her after my half marathon is over and I’m not on a “strict” training schedule! Way to go girl!

Fun dip!!! OMG that takes me back
Congrats on your run girl – I’m glad it went well
I am so happy your run went better! I definitely think you should carry water. Especially since you might have to for the half! You don’t want to be without it. That is what happened to Steven at our first half, and he got dehydrated and delirious!
The suits look so cute and modern! That is so great that you are meeting such cool friends out there. It will be fun when you and Julia can run together!
Congrats on the run and PR! That’s great! And looks like you’re having plenty of fun with your new camera, too, haha. Have a great weekend!
i have a hand held bottle which I really like because without the little strap I always think I’m going to fling the bottle at someone! i usually only take it for super long runs because I don’t drink a ton…however that may change in miami
mmm that cookie looks super
RunToTheFinish – I’ve seen a lot of people with those here and have been very curious about them. Do they feel heavy when you carry them or do you get used to it pretty quickly?
