Today started off well and I think will end well too, and to think usually Mondays are so miserable.

I did a quick workout this morning:

I ran for 6 minutes outside and then did some running exercises (high knees, butt kickers, and super exaggerated skipping).

After, I came inside and did some strength training with my 3lb and 5lb weights – these were a very good investment!

Here’s the breakdown:

3 x each

  • 12 bicep curls with 5 lbs
  • 12 overhead presses with 5 lbs
  • 12 tricep kickbacks with 3 lbs
  • 12 rows with 3 lbs

The second half of my strength training was hip focused – I did all these moves on all fours

3 x each

  • 12 backward leg extension
  • 12 lateral bent leg raises (like a dog peeing on a hydrant – classy I know)
  • 12 leg circles (basically a combination of the two above)

I’m hoping that if I do these regularly, that I will strengthen my hips and have less pain on long runs.

After a shower I had some jasmine tea and breakfast which was a greek  yogurt mess with 1/2 serving Vanilla Oikos (great subtle flavor) and this sample box of Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes and Wild Blueberry Clusters! This cereal was really yummy and paired well with the vanilla yogurt!

After breakfast I headed to school where I did some reading for Wednesday. Then I sat through a torts class which went surprisingly well. We were assigned cases to read for today regarding medical malpractice. I felt like I grasped the material really well, and found it to be interesting to boot. It was an interesting combination of some of the health concepts I learned in undergraduate and the law I am learning now.

After torts, I got together with some friends and started outlining for torts. Outlines are what law students use to study for finals and midterms. We basically create a huge outline of all the material we study in classes – by huge I mean 20 plus pages. I got a good start on my outline, but I can’t decide whether I prefer it to be in chart format or in outline format (you know roman numerals, big number, little letters, etc.) I’m thinking I’ll probably stick with the chart format, because it connects better in my mind.

I ate lunch while outlining which was a Carrot Cake Clif Bar. This flavor is fantastic! It even has little chunks of carrot in it!

After outlining I headed to the mall with my friend Megan for some bday present shopping. I’ve done a lot of shopping recently. Do I mind? Nope, not in the least : )

I picked up some candy from the Sweets Factory – it is dangerous that this mall is so close to my house. I munched on a little bit of the candy towards the end of the shopping trip. I was really surprised by how long the Clif bar kept me full…I ate it around 12:30 and didn’t get hungry until about 4 – pretty good for a bar!

After the mall I drove home to find a notice on my door that a package was waiting for me at FedEx. I have no patience and I was afraid it might be something perishable, so I drove and picked it up.

Lookie what I got

Don’t worry it’s not just a box.

Foodbuzz and Nature’s Pride were so kind as to ship me this free bread to try. Can’t say blogging doesn’t have its benefits!

I couldn’t help but try the bread, so I decided to use some of the 100% Whole Wheat for dinner. I put the 12 grain in the freezer, so that it wouldn’t go bad before I finish the first loaf.

I made a mean PB&J sammie with the Whole Wheat Bread, TJ’s creamy all natural PB, and some 365 Strawberry Fruit Spread. I also had some carrots on the side – apparently today is a carroty day.

And yes, I prefer my sandwiches cut in triangles – always have, always will – I think it tastes better than rectangles ; )

I was extremely impressed with the Nature’s Pride Hearty 100% Whole Wheat Bread. The bread was soft and yet still very sturdy – it held up well to my PB spreading, and didn’t become soggy from the fruit spread.

I liked it so much I even went back for a third slice – with a little I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.

I am happy to report that this bread contains no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup and has 3g fiber  and 5 g protein per slice – which in my opinion is pretty good.

I don’t know that I would buy the bread for myself (I have little self control when it comes to bread as evidenced above), but I would definitely buy this for Tyler.

While I ate my dinner I watched the season premiere of Desperate Housewives – can I just say WOW! You have to watch this!

After a little more homework it was time for some dessert – candy from Sweet Factory.

Look at all those fun artificial colors!

Hope you had a great Monday, and if not I hope Tuesday goes better!
