I packed my lunch (sigh of relief) – I had a wrap made with California Lavash, red peppers, Tribe Spicy Chipotle Hummus, lettuce, and cucumber.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this Spicy Chipotle Hummus, it had a very smoky flavor, that I’m a bit unsure of/not used to. I’m going to try in more simply in the next few days (perhaps on some carrots or crackers), and I’ll let you know how I really feel about it.
I also brought ample snacks for the long day which were all gone by 5:30 including grapes, Apple Cinnamon Clif Z Bar, Runts, and Back to Nature Organice Stoneground Wheat Crackers.

By the way, I’m pretty sure for all the Clif products I eat and love and blog about, they should pretty much pay me to eat their stuff. Just saying.
Dinner was another salad (it’s been a greens week) with croutons, dried cranberries, feta cheese, mushrooms, lettuce (yep that’s pretty key), red peppers, cucumbers, a little bit of seasoned rice vinegar, and the last Tbs. of Annie’s Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette.

I also ate a peach with my dinner – I wish they lasted longer so I didn’t have to scarf them in a week.

And dessert, the last of those Runts – good thing they’re gone!

On another note, there has been a lot of talk lately in the blogging community about the labels of vegetarian, vegan, flexitarian, etc. You may recall a post from back in the beginning of August where I wrote about the changes in my diet that I was making along with my move to Sacramento. I described these changes as flexitarian. I know this is a label, and I understand that some people are very against labeling for a number of different reasons, such as judging others, etc. I choose to use this label for a number of reasons:
- it helps me explain to people how I eat – someone may be confused because I am eating no meat one day and yet I am getting a seafood dish another day – telling someone that I am flexitarian and explaining the concept helps them to understand better, and I think introduces possibilities to people
- it allows me to stress a great deal less when making food choices – Food choices are difficult for me, they always have been and probably always will be. Sometimes I need the freedom to be able to order a dish and not have to worry whether or not it was made with chicken stock or with a sauce that has sardines in it (ahem TJ’s Satay Peanut Sauce)
- it allows me to be able to try new foods (I love trying new foods) regardless of whether they contain meat or animal products – I consider myself a foodie, and would hate to limit myself from trying certain things
I try not to judge people based on how they eat, I certainly do not think badly of people for choosing whether or not to eat meat. I think food choices are very personal and not something that anyone should be looked down upon for. A lot of my life experiences have affected the food choices I make, and I would hate for people to judge me by what I eat or don’t eat. I do try to encourage people to eat healthy, whole foods, because I believe it is important, and I hope that that does not come off as judgmental. I also do not eat as well as I would like to all of the time (ahem RUNTS), and I would hate to think that someone was judging me for eating them, so I certainly don’t want people to feel that I judge them.
If you have any thoughts, comments, or questions about the opinions I’ve expressed here, please comment or email me. Part of what I love about the blogging community are the honest opinions expressed by people, and I would love to hear yours!
Well have a great night, I’m so glad tomorrow is Friday!

Mmm, all that looks good, especially the peach! It’s been too long since I’ve had a nice juicy peach
I try to stay away from labels, but I agree that they’re very good and useful for explaining your diet to another person without getting into a full on conversation about it. My friend is always asking why I only eat vegetables in the cafe, and then one night I’ll go and get chicken and he’s even more confused, so I try to answer as simple as possible
RUNT’S! The banana ones I used to put inside my lips like ‘braces’ – haha!
I always tell people to eat what they want! I’m a vegetarian because I don’t like meat, I can appreciate the fact that people do enjoy eating it. Who am I to tell people what to do?! Happy Friday!
Thanks for showing how you laid out your wrap. I always wondered how to make them. I now know I was doing it wrong!
I think labels help with what you eat, because if people understand what the label means, they are more comfortable with eating around you/feeding you. It’s better to find out ahead of time, rather than when a friend arrives, that they don’t eat a particular thing!
ooooo that is a glorious wrap! i like the chipotle hummus a lot. it grew on me. as far as labels go.. i am like holly, an everythingtarian!
I agree with Janetha! gorgeous wrap!!!
I haven’t had hummus in FAR too long!!
I’m with holly and janetha and you! Flexitarian/Everythingtarian! haha I say do what feels best for YOUR body. Plus I need a lot of protein to feel satisfied (AND VARIETY), so I dont want to eliminate animal products from my life!!!
HAPPY FRIDAY JULIA!
Are those runts in that little tupperware? I haven’t had those in forever! I love the banana ones.
I find it awfully funny that people judge others on how they eat…I mean really don’t we have more important things!
I would say I am a flexitarian too
I definitely understand why you “label” yourself flexitarian. It makes perfect sense to me and doesn’t even begin to offend me in any way!
Thanks for talking about it though
I think you should totally get paid for eating so many clif products! Haha!
