I woke up at 7:15 and promptly got dressed in my running gear, got a water bottle ready with half an Essential Vitamin Water 10, ice, and water, and got in my car and drove to the American River Trail.
I had an amazing run! I finished 11.25 miles in 1:40:50, which is roughly the same pace I ran the half marathon last weekend. It felt fantastic to be doing another long run!
My left knee was bothering my for a lot of the run, I’m hoping that some new shoes (mine have definitely seen too many miles after this half marathon training) and maybe some knee strengthening exercises will help. My hips didn’t bother me as much, so I’m hoping these goofy hip exercises I am doing lately are actually working.
After some serious stretching, I drove home, got in the shower and stretched some more – yep I stretch in the shower. I drank the rest of the Essential Vitamin Water 10 and made a quick bowl of instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal with a Tbs. of creamy peanut butter, which I scarfed before driving to Whole Foods.

Earlier this week I was put on a waiting list for a Value Tour at Whole Foods. I got a call yesterday saying they had an opening, so I jumped on it! The tour started at 10:30 this morning. I got there early and walked around the bakery section for a few minutes before heading in to the class.
The instructor showed us the ads that Whole Foods has available in the store and on line as well as the flyer they put out bi-monthly that has over $35 in coupons in it! After telling us about those ways to save, we took a tour around the store, going through the different sections where she pointed out the more budget friendly items and how to spot good sales.
It was really a very helpful tour! After a quick Q & A she let us go into the store to pick out one item (under $5) to pick to take home for free! I was very excited as you can imagine! It took me about 15 minutes to make my decision, I also picked up a few extra goodies. Look at this loot – a free Whole Food’s reusable tote, a sample of Nature’s Path Pumpkin Spice Granola, a sample of a vitamin, 365 Organic Peanut Sauce (my freebie item), Annie’s Mac and Cheese, including the Deluxe variety, and 3 Stonyfield Pumpkin Pie yogurts! I was so excited to finally find these! I can’t wait to try them!

If you have a WF’s near you I would definitely recommend signing up for their free classes!
Lunch was a veggie burger with cheese on a thin, with ketchup and mustard, and carrots with the last 2 servings of Tribe’s Organic Roasted Sweet Red Pepper Hummus.

I had a few snacks this afternoon while studying and watching shows on Hulu to make sure that I made up for those 11 miles:

5 oz of Grapes

1 serving Barbara's Shredded Spoonfuls with 1/4 cup unsweetened soymilk

2 Vanilla Meringues

1 serving Kashi TLC Cheddar Crackers
I also had 2 glasses of this Paul Mathew Rosé of Pinot Noir. My parents left me a part of the bottle and I wanted to make sure I drank it before it went bad, so I had one small glass while studying and another small glass with dinner to finish off the bottle. It was a welcome addition to my evening : )

Dinner was half a box (lol) Annie’s Deluxe Whole Wheat Shells and Extra Cheesy Cheddar with broccoli. I definitely like the Deluxe version better – it’s more cheesy!

I like to put a little pepper and salt on my mac and cheese to pep it up.
Dessert was 1.5 servings Dreyer’s Caramel Praline Crunch Yogurt Blends Ice Cream with 2 Petit Ecolièr cookies.

I’ve got some more studying to do then it’s off to bed!
Before I go I’m setting a few goals for the week:
- Strength Training 2 x
- Keep doing hip exercises at least every other day (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Cut back on sweets
- Stay on top of reading assignments
- Schedule time to go to the running store and get some new shoes
- Make a plan for my birthday (next Saturday!) and let people know what it is : )
Well I hope you all have a fantastic Monday, I’m out.

1) I would say I’d like to run with you some time, but I am sloooooooooow compared to you. Hope the trail was fun, Speedy.
2) Whole Foods = yum. Also expensive, so it’s cool to hear they do that money-saving thing.
3) There is no 3.
Congrats on the long run! And I hope you enjoy those yogurts!
That’s nifty that Whole Foods does a money saving thing. I can see how that could come in handy. Yay for freebies too! Great time on your run!
Oh my goodness your Annie’s dinner looks SPECTACULAR. I want to have it like now!
Great WF’s tour. That’s so neat–love your grocery haul too!!
YAY for a great run-sorry about your knee. Hope it feels better soon!

Canada won’t carry them! So enjoy one for me!
Looks like you had fun at whole foods! I will never be able to try those pumpkin pie yogurts unfortuantly
I’m DYING to try that pumpkin yogurt!! Let me know how you like it (or don’t like it)!
I miss long runs like that! I hope your knee gets better. Get those new shoes asap! I think that is why my shin is so messed up.
The value tour sounds cool! I still haven’t been to the whole foods near us. Craziness!
Yay! I hope you have fun making your birthday plans!
