What a FABULOUS FRIDAY!

It started off a little rough, because I didn’t get to bed until around midnight (that’s late for this granny haha).

I gave myself a little extra time to sleep.

I made an awesome breakfast, which definitely perked up the day : ) I made scrambled eggs using 2 brown eggs, diced red peppers, 1 Tbs. unsweetened soymilk, salt and pepper. I ate them on top of an Ezekiel 4:9 Pita with a Laughing Cow Lite Wedge spread on top. The flavors melded really well, and I felt re-energized.

I paid all of my bills (so thankful they can be paid online), then made some tea and left for class.

Class went well. I’m always nervous for Civ Pro, whether I am prepared or not, but today I felt like I knew some of the answers to the questions he was asking, which is always a good thing!

When I got home from class I dinked around a little and then went for a run. I did 3.05 miles in 27:22 minutes. Not too shabby. My legs are still feeling out of sync when I run. I also brought my iPod on this run just for kicks. I decided I really prefer not using it, I guess I’m a running purist : )

I finally ate lunch around 3:00pm when I got home. I had a serving of Kashi TLC Cheddar Crackers and some Whoppers and a Tootsie roll that I got from McG (I got free sugar free hot chocolate too but didn’t have my camera).

I also decided to  try the Chobani Pineapple 2% Greek Yogurt that they so generously sent me free to review!

PA090014

The first thing that struck me was the texture, it seemed thicker than other greek yogurts I’ve had. The small pieces of pineapple and pineapple juice gave the yogurt more texture, and also imparted a tropical flavor without making the yogurt too sweet.

I liked that I could eat the yogurt alone without needing something else to give it that hint of sweetness. I was also very happy with how long it kept me satisfied. The nutritionals are stellar in my opinion, you can check them here.

Although, like most greek yogurts, Chobani is a little on the expensive side, I would definitely buy this one again. I could also imagine only using half the container to make a greek yogurt mess which would make it more affordable than using the whole container. Chobani has definitely created an amazing flavor! Thanks again Chobani for giving me the opportunity to review your yogurts! And keep an eye out because I’ll be reviewing more flavors soon!

I had a little treat later Clif Kid Twisted Fruit…yum!

My parents got back to my apartment around 4 ish, my mom was awesome and helped me hang some pictures. After that we got ready to go to an event hosted by McGeorge’s Government Affairs Student Association. It was a legislative panel followed by a small reception.

We picked Megan up on the way to the panel, which was held at a restaurant called Sofia. The speakers were all very interesting and very willing to share about their individual experiences. They were also willing to tell us what they enjoyed most about their careers which I am always eager to hear from people.

Following the panel I had these two delicious appetizers, one was a mini sandwich of some sort…the other was polenta with mushrooms and cheese. Both very good.

After appetizers we drove to L Wine Lounge for a late dinner. I really liked the atmosphere there and our server was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about wine, and also extremely helpful in telling us about the different dishes. Check out the menu! We all shared a bottle of the Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé, which is a German wine. It was fairly dry for a Rosé, but had a hint of sweetness, which is fairly typical of German wines which tend to be sweeter.

Sorry about the sideways pic, I'm tired

The server brought some bread with olive oil and ground nuts, and an amuse bouche, both of which were very good.

My mom ordered a soup and salad. The soup was an almond and garlic soup. She gave me a taste of it. It was creamy, but not super heavy like a typical cream based soup.

PA090023

She ordered the special salad of the day which I can’t recall the details of.

PA100025

Megan ordered the Gnudi which was ricotta gnocchi with lemon verbena, garden corn, sweet onion, with crème fraiche, and hazelnut picada.

PA100026

My dad and I both ordered the L Tacos which were made with a crispy petrole sole (they were fish tacos) on corn tortillas with a sauce similar to tartar sauce, and peppers on a bed of greens.

We all really enjoyed our meals, I can’t wait to go back here sometime, maybe when Tyler is here!

After dinner we dropped Megan off at her apartment and then drove back to mine. I had a sweet treat, two meringues.
