Awesome package from Newman’s Own Organics! Thanks guys!

Aren’t they fantastic – look at all that loot! I don’t even have room in the kitchen for it right now so it’s staying packed away until some things are finished off.
Dinner: Health Valley No Salt Added Organic Mushroom Barley Soup with a little english cheddar grated on top and Back to Nature Organic Stone Ground Wheat Crackers with Laughing Cow Lite.

Dessert: Simple Apple Crisp with Dreyer’s Caramel Pecan Praline Crunch Yogurt Blends.

If you haven’t heard yet, Northern California has gotten absolutely drenched in the past day! It’s supposed to continue through the night tonight, and end sometime tomorrow morning I believe? I don’t mind the rain, except that it makes people drive like idiots – I just hope that it stops in time for me to get a good run in in the morning.
My eating has been way out of whack this week (and past weeks, but not as bad as this week), and I’m hoping some running and eating better tomorrow will get me back on track and get my emotions and hormones under control! I also think I need to get a better handle on what foods I am choosing for desserts – I’ve sort of thought about doing this a bunch of times in the past few weeks, but haven’t really done it. If I am eating dessert, I at least want it to be something free of high fructose corn syrup and trans fats. Things that should be “treats” have become something I’m eating multiple times a day, due to stress and emotional eating. I really need to recommit myself to healthy eating, with a particular emphasis on the sweets/desserts situation.
I’m going to do some label reading in the next few days of the things I currently have in my cabinet and decide what I am willing to buy again and what shouldn’t be in there. If you have any ideas of things to keep on hand for treats that are hfcs and trans fat free, let me know! Or if you have advice on how to limit what you eat in terms of sweets/desserts or make them more nutritionally sound feel free to share!
Hope you all have a Happy Humpday! It’s great to almost be mid-way through the week already!

Woohoo for Newman’s!! Kashi Go Lean waffles are the best thing in the freezer – too darn delicious! How did you like that soup? I literally just bought it last Friday and I’m excited to try it.
You are going to love those chocolate bars and hermits from N.O.O. If you’re looking for HFCS-free, wholesome snacks, look no further than those
i wish i had read this 40 minutes ago! i made my kashi waffles and ate them with PB2, but i totally forgot i had pumpkin butter in the fridge! doh! next time. good luck on your dessert switching thang.. you will do great! i gave up trans fat and HFCS awhile ago and while i don’t necessarily feel a difference, i KNOW it is better for me! the only downfall is if i am at a mexican restaurant i will always have a swig of marshall’s dr pepper. but other than that it has been pretty easy, just a lot of label reading! it is crazy what products have it! have a fab wednesday babe!
Yum. I’m at work and I didn’t eat breakfast… this post is making my stomach growl. Forgot to tell you I haven’t been running yet since the half marathon–ouch! I know! I had big plans to start this week, then the stupid rain started. I’m hoping I can get out today in between clouds. Have a great Wednesday!
Julia!!
I ventured to Whole Foods today and got some of the stuff you have mentioned in your posts (like yogurt, mac and cheese, etc.). I’m excited to try some new, healthy stuff.
I do have some recommendations for yummy sweet treats, since I am dessert obsessed. Via Hungry Girl, I found VitaTops, which are 100 calories each and come in a variety of flavors. I recommend multi-grain and any of the chocolate flavors. Hopefully you can find them at one of your health food stores nearby, but if not you can order them online at http://www.vitalicious.com/. You can freeze them and then micro one when you want it. Maybe you can have them send you some to taste (lucky you). Also, I love Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. Not sure if these items will meet your dietary rules and whatnot, but just thought I’d share anyway!
Let us know how the Newman’s Own stuff turns out!

I need to get some pitas. That would make for an interesting lunch.
How did you get Newman’s to send you that package?!!!
I struggle with sweats BIG TIME. I try to stick to frozen fruit bars (low in calories and ingredients), grapes, and animal crackers. I have GOT to get those Halloween pumpkins (like the candy corn) OUT of my house. I actually hid them in the pantry this morning so I won’t see them when I open the door.
mmmm I’m totally in the mood for some good old gummy bears right about now
Newman’s totally hooked you up! enjoy!!
Totally know what ya mean about reigning in the treats! Sadly, I don’t have any great advice on how to stop it. What I try to do is just be uber-aware of what it is that I’m eating and being very present in the moment of food. If I find myself (like I did last night) eating cake with a fork off the cake platter (my roommate made a cake) I put that fork down and think about what I’m doing. Don’t know if that helps at all but it’s worth a try. Also, just not having it in the house is a biggie. And I assume you live alone, so at least you have control over that. Me…not so much…my roommates always have tempting treats in the house. Ah! Good luck! I’ll be cutting out the treats right there with ya!
ooo! those almonds sound yummy! i want to find a bag here!!
For me, if i can avoid the sweets for a couple days the cravings go away.
although with that apple crisp around, it gets a little more difficult
