Freaky Friday

Did you all know today was Friday the 13th? I didn’t really realize it until about 3/4 of the way through the day…obviously I am not superstitious.

I had today off from classes which was a welcome relief. It gave me the chance to get things done at home that I’ve been putting off all week, and to give my poor brain a much needed break.

I slept it, which felt absolutely amazing. When I finally got up, I spent an hour or so picking up clothes in my bedroom, because it looked like the mall had exploded in my room. I also cleaned the kitchen (desperately needed) and generally just picked up around the apartment.

Around 9 I decided to have breakfast. I wasn’t super hungry, so I had a Key Lime Pie LaraBar.

This definitely wasn’t my favorite bar. It honestly didn’t taste anything like Key Lime Pie except maybe a very very subtle lime flavor.

At noon I drove to the American River Trail and went for my first run in a week (yea like I said previously, I’ve been a SLOTH). I ran 4.5 miles in 39 minutes. Definitely not my fastest run, and definitely not my easiest run, but I got out there and did it.

When I got home I started Angela’s Whittle My Middle in 30 Days Challenge! I really don’t enjoy doing corework, so a challenge like this will hopefully keep me motivated to do it!

For my first day I did a total of 6 minutes:

  • Plank with bent arms: 1:15 mins
  • Side Plank with bent arms: 0:45 min each side
  • Plank Rotations: 1:15 mins
  • Plank with straight arms: 1:00 min
  • Side Plank with straight arms 0:30 min each side

I’m debating about buying a stability ball so that I can do all the different plank exercises.

Lunch was an Amy’s Teriyaki wrap and 1.5 cups steamed broccoli with 365 Organic Peanut Sauce.

A little later, I snacked on a Honey Crisp Apple with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Butter. I absolutely love this combo!

I spent the late afternoon running errands: the post office, Target, Trader Joe’s, and Save Mart. I didn’t buy anything too exciting unfortunately.

When I finally got done with errands I came home and made myself some dinner. I had 1 1/3 cups Trader Joe’s Organic Butternut Squash Soup, a Trader Joe’s Michette Roll, and 1 oz Trader Joe’s Gouda.

This was such a satisfying fall dinner. I warmed the roll up in the oven, and once I had cut the roll almost in half, I put the gouda between the two hot halves so it melted. It was delicious.

I knew all day that I had been craving Sour Skittles, and I was worried that if I didn’t satisfy that craving that I would end up eating other things to try and satisfy it. Instead, I just bought Sour Skittles.

I ate Sour Skittles (one package) and a serving of Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies while watching Hulu.

I also ate 2 servings of White Chocolate Chips from Trader Joe’s.

I think part of my problem this week has been denying myself the food that I really wanted, which resulted in me eating other foods, and more of them, to try and satisfy that craving.

I’m going to spend some time tomorrow coming up with a concrete list of some things that I want to accomplish before the holidays. I have at least one item now, the Whittle My Middle Challenge, that will be going on that list.

The reason I want to make some other goals is so that I can keep track of what I need to be focused on in these next few weeks. Between studying and taking exams, it is going to be a challenge to keep eating healthy and exercising, so I want to have some form of motivation.

Hope you had a great Friday. I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of this long weekend!

Bless your heart! I would rather eat dirt than hold all those planks! Good work!

I agree! I’m glad you just decided to eat what you wanted.. it’s all about moderation and you did a good job with that! I haven’t tried the key lime pie larabar yet.. but I’m not sure I’d be a huge fan of it either :/

That dinner looks awesome. What’s best is it sounds like I can hop over to Trader Joe’s and get it for myself! Also, I had no clue they made their own white chocolate chips! Yum

Last week I was craving regular skittles SO BAD! It was ridiculous! I got a bag of them and made them last three days, and felt better after that!

I do that sometimes too – not eat what I am craving and eat too much of something else instead. And that something else is usually not veggies!
