Then I headed to the trail for a rainy run. I finished seven miles in 66 minutes. My legs felt like lead for much of the run, and all the layers and extra’s I had on weighed me down a lot (gloves, hat, jacket, long sleeves, long pants). I was definitely glad to be done, when I hit 7 miles.
When I got home I had a quick and easy recovery lunch: Plain Chobani with Kashi Heart to Heart and 2 Tbs. nectarine jam. Delish.

A little later, Benedikt arrived. Benedikt’s mom and my mom have been friends for a long time, and I met him the summer before I went to college. He’s been studying in the U.S. for the past semester, and wanted to visit California, so when he contacted me, I was happy to have him here for a few days and show him around Sacramento.
We went to Boudin for lunch (I had already eaten, so I just had a water).
After, we came back to the apartment and just chatted. It was really interesting to compare the differences between German culture and American culture.
I was pretty hungry from my run still, so I snacked on some Honey Whole Wheat Pretzel sticks in the afternoon.

Dinner tonight was a lot of fun. We had a small casual dinner party at my place with Bene, Julia, Megan, and I.

We got dinner ready while we chatted and sipped on PKNT Cabernet Sauvignon.

Julia was awesome and brought some brie, and gouda with Trader Joe’s bread for an appetizer.

The lasagna finished baking a little while later. We had the lasagna with a delicious salad that Megan brought and put together with spinach, heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. I have some fabulous friends with great taste in food!
I had two plates, each with a small serving of lasagna and salad with balsamic vinegar.

After dinner we had some German chocolate that Bene had brought. We had Milka as well as a Chocolate Santa by Choceur. The chocolate was delicious – much better than the everyday American milk chocolate!

Around 9:20, Julia and Megan headed home. Bene just headed to bed, and I’ll going to hit the sack soon too. Wine makes me sleepy!
Tomorrow, I have a Property review session in the morning. Then I’m going to show Bene around Sacramento, specially Old Sacramento. I’ll probably get in a workout before or after the review session – but I’ll definitely get one it after all the carbs I ate tonight!
Well I hope you had a great weekend filled with friends and good food. I can’t believe in 7 days I’ll be in Michigan, getting to see Tyler and the rest of my family! I can’t wait!
Have a fantastic Monday!

Oh no! Are you gonna eat Santa? Haha, he looks delicious!
I wonder how German chocolate tastes like…is it really superior? I wonder why?
